According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court rejected an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
